Nikola Tesla

Nikola Tesla (1856-1943) was a Serbian-American inventor, electrical engineer, mechanical engineer, and futurist who is best known for his contributions to the design of the modern alternating current (AC) electricity supply system.


Tesla was born in what is now modern-day Croatia and immigrated to the United States in 1884. He worked for the inventor Thomas Edison for a brief period before striking out on his own to develop his own inventions. Tesla's most notable contributions include the development of the AC electrical system, the Tesla coil, and the wireless transmission of electricity.


Throughout his career, Tesla was awarded over 300 patents for his inventions, including ones related to electrical generators, motors, and transformers. He was a highly eccentric and often misunderstood figure in his time, but his legacy has endured as one of the most innovative and visionary minds in the history of science and technology.
